Add this F-word to your 2023 goals
2022 was a tough year. And with an ongoing recession and more layoffs on the way, we can expect much of the same for at least the first three quarters of 2023.
And that means you’re going to hear a lot more F-bombs before things get better. 🤬
So, what can you do about it?
Build. Be frugal. And make investments that bear fruit when the recession is over.
Yes, the recession will end this year. Most likely by Q4.
And when things turn around, you want to make sure you’re top of mind when your customers are ready to buy.
That’s why there’s only one F-word that has the power to grow your business this year: FAMILIARITY
It’s my theme for 2023 and I urge you to make it yours.
Here are 5 ways to breed familiarity in your business:
1. Start a community
Online communities are a great way to provide ongoing support to customers beyond what your product or service offers. By being available during tough times, you’ll instil trust and familiarity for when they need you in good times too. Here are the 15 best community platforms for 2023.
👉 Try this: Create a free online community with clients and employees.
2. Host a podcast
Let your customers tune in to a regular podcast where you share how you’re dealing with the tough economic climate and helping others.
👉 Try this: Create a free Anchor account and record a short podcast from your phone.
3. Publish a newsletter
Social media is great for generating awareness of your business but ultimately, the algorithms are in control and you can’t be guaranteed that your message will reach your audience. That’s why email is still one of the best channels for staying top of mind.
👉 Try this: Create a free Substack account and invite your customers to subscribe.
4. Adopt video
It’s no secret that your customers prefer to consume video over all other forms of communication. Video is a great way to boost customer loyalty and engagement (especially important in a down economy). If you’re not prioritising video this year, then you’re missing a trick.
5. Give customers more face time
People buy from people they’re familiar with – not faceless brands. The more face time you can give your customers, the better. Whether meeting in person, on Zoom, or through asynchronous video, it all helps in breeding familiarity.
👉 Try this: Launch weekly office hours on Zoom where customers can drop in and chat with you – or offer them always-on asynchronous coaching and support.
Wishing you a successful and healthy 2023!
Until next time. ✌️
