At Sendible, we went through a period of high staff turnover.

Sadly, we lost a lot of great talent. And as founder, I was to blame. So I made it my mission to turn things around.

I read all the books. 📚

Listened to all the podcasts.

And discovered that to build a strong culture, you need to start with your purpose.

That’s when I dropped everything and focused on rewriting our vision, mission, and (most importantly) our core values.

It transformed our business.

Our staff retention shot up.

And as a result, a large majority of the team remained with the company for 5+ years.

Not only that, but, as an added side effect — it made attracting top talent easier too!

Here are 5 principles I followed:

1. Build a strong company mission and vision

2. Give people autonomy to do great work

3. Create opportunities for personal growth

4. Ensure everyone has amazing co-workers

5. Allocate a generous learning allowance

What’s worked well for you?

Until next time,

— GH
